The Blood Boss Book 1 in the Black Veil series Author Davidson King Narrated by Declan Winters, Tim Paige Publication date Feb 15, 2022 Running time 5 hrs 21 min I enjoyed reading The Blood Boss when it released in August of 2021. I received a copy of the audiobook a few days ago and finished listening this afternoon. Wow, this is a series that will be an automatic pre-order in book e-book and audiobook format. What did I like? Ang man with darkness in his heart; a cinnamon roll who is more than cinnamon and sugar.; several side characters I like, vampires, sirens, triton (guy mermen), sky gods, witches, and a universe aching to be explored. A universe that will include dragons. Dragons! What I did not like? Waiting for the next book. This was my first experience with Tim Paige and Declan Winters. They did a good job. Black Veil Series Book 2 is an automatic preorder. Tantor Audio provided a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I requested A Quick & Easy Guide to Asexuality from Netgalley because I was curious. Asexuality has come up in the books or social media I have read but have not understood what it means. I found the book answered my questions. The few remaining were answered by using the resources listed at the end of the book. The author and illustrators both identify as asexual. It was nice to have the contents explained by people who live it. I liked how the illustrations helped me to understand the text better. I hope others who are curious or searching find this book useful. I did. The book covers: * What is Asexuality * The Spectrum of Asexuality * Asexuality and Aromanticism * Dating While Asexual * Growing Up Ace * Ace Stereotypes * The "A" is LGBTQIA+ * Resources - including books on asexuality, websites, resources, and forums #AQuickEasyGuidetoAsexuality #NetGalley "To that point, Petrograd is meant to capture how it feels to wake up and realize you are (as we all are) living in history. Our actions have consequences–some small, some enormous. All of them impossible to predict with accuracy." - David R. Stone Petrograd, written by Philip Gelatt and illustrated by Tyler Crook, is exceptional. The writing is great. Gelatt takes a complex story and makes it a page turner. I enjoyed how all parts of the story are represented: the British, the Russian aristocracy, and the Russian peasants. It also shows how unsettled every segment of society is. Crook's illustrations are rich in detail. Each face in a crowd is distinct. The locations are also very detailed. David R. Stone writes a an explanation of events and their how it relates to the graphic novel. I got so much more out of this graphic novel than had a read a book of the events. I highly recommend Petrograd for the story and the illustrations and the world they create together. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, and this is my honest review. #Petrograd #NetGalley #PhilipGelatt @MrTylerCrook Spirited Situation (Ghostly Guardians #1) by Louisa Masters was a fun read. I recently read Masters Hidden Species series for the first time (I know, I know. Should have read it sooner.) When I saw Spirited Situation available for review from Gay Romance Reviews, I requested it. I devoured it and am eagerly awaiting the next entry in the series. There was so much to like in this book. The romance between Josh and Ewan starts with a bang but eventually offers the hope of a long-term relationship. I absolutely loved Josh's vulnerability. Masters writes Josh so well the reader can feel the burden he carries. Ewan is a kind man. The world needs more kind men, kind people actually. Ewan's kindness is so foreign to Josh's experience that he struggles to understand. I think of the two, Ewan is my favorite and it is for his kindness that I chose him. The secondary characters of Kieran, Dan, and Sky are interesting enough to possibly appear in future books. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance with a little paranormal thrown in. Especially for anyone who enjoyed any or all of Masters' previous books. |
